‘Reflections on Kid A’ – Interview with Thom Yorke Discussing Radiohead

An intimate interview with Thom Yorke. He hasn’t given the world much footage like this and its possible to see why once you’ve watched it.He gives a great deal of thought and consideration to what he says, he doesn’t hold back in trying to describe his feelings. Its a extraordinarily open and honest way to behave. Asides for one bit in the video (26:50) were Yorke decides the interviewer is trying to get some unnecessary dirt on the band.

Why should he give that sort of thing over for general consumption for people to look at, laugh it, ignore, poke, misunderstand, or think they understand, or worse think that they now have some permanent unchanging understanding of him. People change, their beliefs do the same, things captured on film don’t.

Just like his says in this documentary, his music belongs to the viewer then so too should this interview. If you think about it like that there’s no problem with people consuming it like they do. But it’s obviously auto-biographical nature makes it nearly impossible to feel that detached from it in the same way a musician can detach themselves from their music. Let us know what you think…
